General objectives of Mufindi Environmental Trust were:-

• To protect and conserve the environment in Mufindi district.
• To protect and rehabilitate water sources through tree planting, (planting of environmentally friendly tree species like syzigium cordatum).
• To improve the living standards of the local community.
• To promote and improve public awareness on environmental issues.
• To raise public awareness on the deadly disease– HIV /AIDS.
• Encourage, tree planting and later on establish a tree planting organization/association.
• To raise more returns from timber from current 35% to 70%.
• To encourage utilization of final products from timber for electricity production.
